Alvaro Jimenez

Director of Transportation

Not technically a Mariposa staff member, Alvaro has received his honorary title due to his dedication and long term commitment to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and security of our girls and staff via his reliable and safe transportation company, JoJim Tours. According to data published by the World Health Organization in 2020, the Dominican Republic is ranked #1 in the world for traffic related accidents. Here at the Mariposa Foundation we believe in ensuring equal opportunity and access to our girls and see safe transportation as one of the most important mechanisms of getting them to and from school and programs. Thanks to Alvaro and his team at JoJim Tours, his local transportation company founded by him and his family, we are able to ensure that as best as we can! 

Alvaro grew up in Sabaneta, not far east of Cabarete, where he and his wife are raising their son. An expert on the crazy roads of the Dominican Republic, Alvaro knows this country inside and out and can get you anywhere you need to be (and sometimes with a shortcut!). We are extremely grateful for Alvaro and his team and welcome him as a part of the Mariposa community with open arms. Gracias Alvaro!
